Museums inside out

Imagine yourself walking through the massive wooden doors and... Your breath is taken away because you see something incredible, titanic, dominating. But first you hear it: solemn or festive, clear and so traditional. Someone's playing organ.

Art should always be accompanied by music. At least that's what they do in Kelvingrove Art Gallery.

Have you ever been to the World's expo? You have a unique chance to visit the 19th century pavilion in Glasgow. Right there, in West End.

It's decorated generously with stone, marble and gilding, and always holds some interesting exhibitions from all the UK. And not only. But all in good time, and I'll show you a sneak peek to the some of the Kilvingrove's collections in the following posts.

This place offers you to take a velvet chair and feel yourself a true Scottish gentry, listening to the afternoon organ music. You can't feel yourself less in this place, because it was designed for waking up the best in you and taking your feeling and emotions to the whole new level of perception oа the museums.

These halls and arches with the chess-patterned floor reminded me of Alice in Wonderland, when you anticipate to get lost in space, time and art if you chase a rabbit down the path. Look at this picture and imagine what world you're going to fall into: will it be 19th century Italy or Van Gogh's house, or James Paterson's garage where Glasgow Boys sit, smoke and paint?

Try not to get lost, because the gallery is huge. And behind its every column, you can see something incredible, waiting just for you,

Stairs and archivolts remind of a fantastic palace.

Busts with serious faces and almost animated lips are talking to you without using words. Yes, you will learn to read minds here. Isn't it magical?

Greek tragedy is a part of Glasgow's identity, so you'll definitely see it in Kelvingrove as well.

These stunning tiles, walls and columns are not only the shelter for art pieces: you can see a large exhibition of Natural History artefacts.

And don't bottle up your emotions when you're there. Let them twirl you and swing you off your feet.
